Victoria Turner

Victoria Turner was born in London in 1963. She grew up in a household of artists, her mother and many friends being painters and sculptors. She remembers using a paintbrush before being able to write her name.

She painted continuously with her mother as a child, and after attending Yeovil School of Art, she moved to California where for two years she developed ideas for landscapes and experimented with different mediums. In the late '80s Victoria moved back to the UK, where she worked in print production and graphic design.

After starting a family, and moving to the west country, Victoria worked with Rachel Hemming-Bray, Laurel Smart and more recently Russell Hedges.

Increasingly inspired by coastal scenes, Victoria finally moved down to West Penwith with her family 2 years ago. Her passion with the sea, surfing and granite landscapes is reflected intimately in her latest work.

Form, intense use of colour and perspective produce abstract images that sharply evoke local land and seascapes. The feel of granite and smell of the sea, coupled with the thrill of a good wave is never far away from this unique work.

Demand for Victoria's latest work is strong. Her recent abstracts are sought after by customers from far and wide, she is developing a strong local following.
