This show at Vitreous Contemporary Art is a follow on to my ‘Tracks Across an Ancient Land' exhibition at the Great Atlantic Mapworks gallery at St. Just in April this year. The concept is based around the idea of tracing particular leyline earth energies through Cornwall, across Dartmoor, through Glastonbury and Avebury, and eventually out to the east coast of England.

I became excited about this project when I discovered that the Michael leyline, reputedly the most powerful in Britain, runs through my kitchen in Marazion! I therefore decided to paint along this ‘male' energy line, and its feminine counterpart, the Mary line, which interweaves with the Michael line across the land.

My show at the Mapworks traced the lines from Lands End to just beyond Marazion. This exhibition tracks the same leys onward towards St. Austell.

I began by sketching at various locations along the energyline, which I initially located through the book ‘The Sun and the Serpent' by local authors Hamish Miller and Paul Broadhurst. (I also have my own intuitive sense of dowsing earth energy). These sketches I used to create pictures in my studio, which I supplemented with more pictures begun on location.

I have found it fascinating how these specific energies have influenced my approach to the paintings, which are some of the most mysterious and energetic I have ever produced.

I also had great fun making a soundtrack of music to evoke the ley locations. The cd includes a slide show of the Map Works exhibition. My next cd will include the work from this Vitreous show and the following one planned for next year . . . and more music.

Anyway, I hope you will find the work at least interesting, possibly fascinating, or even inspiring.
