Nigel Kemp

For me, the process of making a painting is always unpredictable.

I enjoy working with the moment and allowing things to happen, an unconscious awareness.

I aim to cultivate a range of spaces existing above, beyond and on the painted surface. These spaces may be busy and full or inactive and empty. The simple opposition of the positive and the negative.

The final images hold references to one or more of the four elements; fire, earth, water and air.
