Arran Hawkins

"I always try to see the world as a child would, with a certain amount of fascination and wonder, in order to recapture the feeling of seeing something for the first time. And yet my viewpoint is always tainted by a dark cynicism that comes of being “A Grown-up”.

My paintings/drawings often reflect this. Childish cartoon doodles reflect on their place in an imagined, yet somehow very real world, with an adult black humour. (Loneliness, fear, solitude, disappointment etc). The essence of the work is fun, but thinly veils an underlying sense of dread."
